This Privacy Policy describes how Kuayo ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our mobile application and related services. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Credentials: Email address and password, or your Google account name and email if you sign in with Google.
  • Farm Profile: Farm name, location, farm type, and farm size.
  • Livestock Records: Pig names, types, breeds, weights, and notes you enter.
  • Feed Records: Feed amounts, types, dates, and associated livestock.
  • Health Records: Vaccination names, dates, drug schedules, and dosage information.
  • AI Assistant Queries: The questions and messages you send to the in-app AI assistant, including any farm context included with those queries.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: Device model, operating system version, app version, and unique device identifiers.
  • Push Notification Token: A device-specific token used to deliver reminders and alerts to your device.
  • App Usage Data: Feature usage patterns and error logs used to diagnose bugs and improve the App.
  • Network Status: Whether your device is online or offline, used to manage data synchronisation.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Account Management: To create, authenticate, and maintain your user account.
  • Farm Records: To store and display the livestock, feed, and health records you enter.
  • AI Assistant: To send your questions and relevant farm data to Google Gemini AI and return a response (see Section 3 for full disclosure).
  • Push Notifications: To deliver feeding reminders, vaccination alerts, and drug schedule reminders to your device.
  • App Improvement: To diagnose crashes, monitor performance, and develop new features.
  • Customer Support: To respond to inquiries and troubleshoot issues.
  • Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws and regulations.

3. AI Assistant & Data Sharing with Google Gemini

The App includes an AI-powered assistant. When you use this feature, the following information is transmitted to Google's Gemini AI API to generate a response:

  • Your typed question or message
  • Relevant farm context from your account (pig count, recent weight records, upcoming vaccinations, and recent feed records)

This data is processed by Google and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy in addition to ours. We do not use your queries to train AI models. Google may retain API request data per their own retention schedule.

If you do not want your farm data sent to Google Gemini, do not use the AI Assistant feature.

4. Data Storage and Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your information. Specifically:

  • All farm data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore, hosted in the United States.
  • Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest by Firebase.
  • Access to your data is restricted to your authenticated user account — no other user can access your records.
  • Access controls and authentication mechanisms are enforced by Firebase Authentication.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained while your account is active. To request deletion of your account and all associated data, contact us at brownbennet@gmail.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

After deletion, your data is permanently removed from our systems. Note that Google may retain Gemini API logs per their own retention policies.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
  • Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Objection: Object to processing of your information for certain purposes.

California Residents (CCPA)

We do not sell personal information. California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to request deletion, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

European Residents (GDPR)

The legal basis for processing your data is your consent (given at account creation) and the performance of our service contract with you. You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country.

7. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing their data practices:

8. Push Notifications

The App may send push notifications for daily feeding and weight-check reminders, upcoming vaccination alerts, and drug schedule reminders. You can disable notifications at any time in your device's system settings. Disabling notifications does not affect your ability to use the App.

9. Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information is stored and processed in the United States via Google Firebase. If you are located outside the United States, by using the App you consent to the transfer of your data to the United States. We rely on Google's data protection safeguards for international transfers.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page, updating the "Last updated" date, and notifying you via the App. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
